Here is a test for you to carry out that will tell you if you need help ranking your Google My Business listing.
Go to a place about 4 miles away from your business address. People searching for the most commonly used keyword 'massage near me' will often be 3 to 6 miles away or more. It will not be useful to do this search while in or near your place of work because yours will be the nearest of them all and will show up always.
Type into the search bar of your mobile phone browser the search phrase, 'massage therapist near me'. The results of this search will show any nearby therapists and yours should be included.
If your massage business is not in the top three of the maps results like in the image below then you need some help to optimse your GMB listing.
Naturally, if there are no other massage therapists within a 5 mile radius apart from yours, then this test will not show you anything useful. Instead either move further away until your area includes other therapists or ask a friend or colleague to try it further away.
Think about the nature of these local searches. They are mostly carried out by people on the move on their mobile phones and so they will see these maps results quickly. It is easy to scroll down to find other results but with the maps results a user simply taps on one of those 3 and immediately is shown more details about the shop along with a click to call button. This is very powerful and even more reason to make sure your massage therapy business appears in the maps 3 pack!
With users on their desktop/laptop it is still always the best place for your listing to appear too.
